What we do

NETWAYS has been around for over a quarter of a century and we have reached many milestones: our team is constantly growing, just like our product range, and we are adding new, great customers every year. What once began as a small company is now a recognized player in the field of open source IT solutions – with a strong network, committed employees and a clear vision.

We support companies in setting up, monitoring, automating and managing IT infrastructures based on open source. As a competent and reliable partner in the field of monitoring and system management, we accompany our customers from the concept phase and consultation through the complete implementation of their project to training and support. In addition, we continuously invest in innovation and further development in order to keep pace with technological trends and offer our customers future-proof solutions.

The group of companies

The NETWAYS Group consists of NETWAYS GmbH as the parent company and its subsidiaries, which offer specialized services: NETWAYS Professional Services GmbH provides advice and support in all matters relating to IT infrastructures, automation, monitoring, logging and security. With NETWAYS Web Services , NETWAYS Managed Services GmbH provides a platform for fully managed open source software and private cloud solutions based on OpenStack, a comprehensive cloud solution. And NETWAYS Event Services GmbH provides the necessary knowledge transfer with training courses and organizes renowned conferences such as the Open Source Monitoring Conference and stackconf.

In addition, Icinga, a monitoring software company, is organizationally integrated into the NETWAYS Group, but operates economically independently.

Our certifications

At NETWAYS, we focus on trust and expertise – as demonstrated by our TISAX® and ISO 27001 certifications as well as the individual qualifications of many of our employees.

ISO 27001

Not only, but especially with our cloud service subsidiary NETWAYS Managed Services GmbH, we attach great importance to the protection and security of our customers’ data. Since October 2024, TÜV Nord has officially confirmed our compliance with the highest security standards through ISO 27001 certification. This certification underlines our commitment to protecting your data in accordance with strict international standards.
In addition, we are committed to ensuring that our safety measures are always state of the art and are continuously developed through regular inspections. So you can be sure that your data is in the best hands with us – now and in the future.

TISAX®

Information security is a top priority at NETWAYS Professional Services GmbH. We have been TISAX® (Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange) certified since October 2025 and therefore meet the strict requirements for data protection, confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information. This certification confirms our consistent handling of sensitive data.

We see TISAX® not as a one-off award, but as an ongoing commitment. Through regular audits and the continuous development of our security measures, we ensure that our processes comply with current standards – and that our customers can rely on the highest level of information security at all times.

Nuremberg City Mission

The Nuremberg City Mission is a non-profit, Protestant welfare organization. It belongs to Diakonie and the Evangelical Church in Bavaria. In and around Nuremberg, it is there for people who need help in life, are marginalized or disadvantaged. Every year, it supports over 25,000 women, men and children in a wide variety of difficult situations. In addition to working with children, young people and families, it offers intergenerational counseling services and psychosocial support. It also operates numerous retirement and care facilities. NETWAYS has provided financial support to the field of youth psychiatry and the fight against poverty in old age.

The private initiative launched in 2008 by a number of Tyroleans now enables 400 children around Zigoti in Uganda to attend school regularly. Our sponsorship helps the children and also supports other families who look after the orphans.

The children should be helped effectively. Helping people to help themselves means, above all, education. No child can learn because it is hungry, because it has no place to sleep or because it is ill or because the drinking water is contaminated.

Human Dreams

Following the publication of the memoir "Star Thieves", Nicole Mitawa founded the non-profit organization Human Dreams e.V. to set up a children's care home in India for children in life-threatening situations.

This was followed in 2013 by the construction of a children's village for severely ill and multiply disabled children in Tanzania. NETWAYS has supported this project by donating a dairy cow, which has been given the beautiful name of Icinga.

Shelter Box

ShelterBox provides people who have lost their livelihoods as a result of natural disasters or conflicts with emergency accommodation and a basic stock of essential supplies. As every disaster is different, we decide individually for each deployment which materials we distribute on site. Thanks to the compact dimensions of our relief supplies, we can also reach remote regions that are often only accessible on foot or with pack animals.

Shelterbox is based on the work of volunteers, even for first aid, and is financed exclusively by donations.

Movember

The Movember Foundation is committed to changing the face of men's health for good. The Movember campaign is an awareness and fundraising campaign that takes place every year in November. The Movember community has raised over 409 million euros and funded more than 800 programs in 21 countries. These programs save and improve the lives of men affected by prostate and testicular cancer. We have made a small contribution to this by participating in the Movember fundraising campaign.

Finding ways and solutions together when you don’t know what to do. Or simply say “thank you”. We live and love open source! Our daily work revolves around open source and the spirit that goes with it is reflected in our teams. We value community, open communication and feedback for improvement. Open source is in our DNA. We are passionate about agile working, DevOps and innovation that stems from everyone’s ideas.

Sustainability

We rely on sustainable energy for our offices and data centers and strive to make our services climate-neutral. Our consultants and MyEngineers prefer to work remotely and, if necessary, travel by train or our predominantly electric vehicle fleet. We also support sustainable social projects and buy locally wherever possible and sensible.

Our history

For over 25 years, we have stood for innovation and passion in the field of open source, starting out as a small start-up and growing into a leading IT service provider with an international reach.

2001

NETWAYS becomes a GmbH with a focus on open source software: With continuous growth and increasing demand for professional IT services, the next logical step is taken: NETWAYS becomes a GmbH. The focus remains clearly on open source software - an area in which NETWAYS not only has expertise, but also a real passion. The transformation into a limited company underlines the company's claim to develop and support stable, scalable and future-proof solutions for companies of all sizes in the long term.

2002

As the team grows and the number of projects increases, more space is needed - a clear sign of the company's positive development. NETWAYS is expanding its offices for the first time, creating space not only for new employees, but also for fresh ideas, creative exchange and further growth. The expansion marks an important step on the way to a modern, future-oriented working environment.

2005

NETWAYS is taking two important steps this year: With the establishment of our own online store, we are expanding our portfolio to include the direct sale of hardware and open source tools - simple, fast and convenient for our customers. At the same time, we are assuming social responsibility and investing in the future: the first trainees are starting their careers at NETWAYS. In this way, we are laying the foundations for the sustainable promotion of young talent and a strong, committed team.

2006

With the first Nagios conference, NETWAYS is creating a platform for the exchange of information about open source monitoring. What began as a conference for a specialized audience quickly developed into the central meeting place for the international monitoring community. Today, the event is known as the Open Source Monitoring Conference (OSMC) and attracts experts, developers and users from all over the world to Nuremberg every year. A highlight in the open source calendar - and an affair of the heart for NETWAYS.

2009

With the start of the development of Icinga, NETWAYS opens a new chapter: Building on many years of monitoring experience, a modern, flexible and expandable open source solution is being created that is quickly becoming a popular alternative in the monitoring environment. As a co-founder and active part of the Icinga project, NETWAYS contributes not only technical know-how, but also community spirit - in keeping with the open source philosophy that has always characterized our actions.

2010

NETWAYS expands its conference portfolio and launches the Open Source Datacenter Conference (OSDC). The event is aimed at administrators, DevOps and architects who plan and operate modern infrastructures with open source technologies. With presentations by international experts and a strong focus on practical relevance, the conference quickly established itself as a permanent fixture. Today it bears the name stackconf and remains a central meeting place for all those who are enthusiastic about innovative IT architectures and open source.

2017

With the founding of NETWAYS Web Services, NETWAYS is taking the next logical step towards the cloud. Under the NWS label, we offer easy-to-use, scalable and secure open source hosting and platform solutions - "Infrastructure as a Service", made in Germany. From Kubernetes to monitoring and GitLab: NWS makes the operation of complex applications easier than ever before - without any vendor lock-in and with the usual NETWAYS support.

2022

What once began with an idea is now a diverse, international team: NETWAYS now has 86 dedicated employees from 17 nations. This cultural diversity is not only a reflection of our open corporate culture, but also a real strength in our day-to-day work - because different perspectives create better solutions. Together, we are working to make the world of open source technologies a little better every day.

2024

With the increasing need for security in the IT world, NETWAYS is expanding its consulting portfolio to include information security. Our experts support companies in effectively protecting their systems, data and processes - from risk analysis and security concepts through to practical implementation. We thus combine our many years of open source expertise with sound know-how in the field of security and offer holistic solutions for a secure IT infrastructure.
