OpenTelemetry

One standard for your entire observability

With OpenTelemetry, you can instrument applications and infrastructure uniformly and collect vendor-neutral traces, metrics and logs – without being tied to a single tool. We help you to introduce OTel cleanly and integrate it into your observability stack.

How we work with you

You don’t have to introduce OpenTelemetry on your own. We accompany you step by step – and stay by your side afterwards.

Step 1

Analysis & concept

We look at your applications, services and existing monitoring tools and plan together which signals - traces, metrics, logs - really bring benefits. We know the pitfalls from many observability projects - so you avoid an expensive flood of data that nobody analyzes.
"
Step 2

Structure & integration

We instrument your applications, set up the OpenTelemetry Collector and connect your backend - whether Grafana, Prometheus or an existing system. A clean setup with standardized conventions ensures that your signals really fit together later on.
"
Step 3

Commissioning & correlation

Your telemetry runs live, traces, metrics and logs are linked via shared context. This allows you to find the cause of a problem more quickly - instead of jumping between separate tools and unnecessarily extending the mean time to resolution (MTTR).
"
Step 4

Support & Operation

On request, we can take over ongoing operations completely (outsourcing) or support your team with support and training. Maintaining instrumentation, collectors and pipelines takes a lot of time internally - we keep your observability stable so that you can concentrate on your core business.

OpenTelemetry Features

Instrument once and collect traces, metrics and logs vendor-neutrally – according to an open standard

Shaping observability together

We help you to strategically plan, technically implement and sustainably operate modern observability solutions with OpenTelemetry. We combine consulting, implementation and support to create a tailor-made service that is geared to your requirements. Our aim is to make the recording of metrics, logs and traces transparent, manufacturer-independent and efficient to use.

Questions & Answers

The most frequently asked questions about OpenTelemetry

What is OpenTelemetry simply explained?

2
3
OpenTelemetry, or OTel for short, is an open framework with which you can instrument applications and infrastructure to collect observability data: Traces, metrics and logs. It uniformly defines how this data is generated and sent to an evaluation backend - regardless of the manufacturer and according to a common standard.

Is OpenTelemetry open source?

2
3
Yes. OpenTelemetry is an open source project of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and is supported by over 90 providers. You can use it freely and retain full control over your telemetry data.

What are traces, metrics and logs?

2
3
These are the three pillars of observability. Metrics show how a system behaves over time (such as latency or error rate), traces track the path of a request through distributed services, and logs are chronological event records. Together they form a complete picture - especially when they are linked together.

What is the OpenTelemetry Collector?

2
3
The collector is a vendor-neutral component that receives and processes telemetry data and forwards it to one or more backends. It can enrich, filter and transform data - for example, automatically add Kubernetes attributes - without your application noticing.

How does OpenTelemetry compare to Prometheus or Grafana?

2
3
OpenTelemetry collects and transports the data, while a backend stores and visualizes it. OTel works with Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger and many other systems. This allows you to combine the open standard with the tools you already use - without being tied to one manufacturer.

Do I need to replace my existing monitoring for OpenTelemetry?

2
3
No. OpenTelemetry can be introduced gradually and operated alongside existing solutions. You start by orchestrating individual services and gradually expand - we help you to plan your entry without disrupting your existing landscape.
